We ran into an issue with non-Cisco phones running POE 3550 switch. The debate was emense and everyone was fired up.
Me, being the token minion for the day (Wiring, testing Windows 7 and Astaro security gateway sw), googles a solution for the WIN!
I come to discover that the switch was not compliant. On a hunch for some more data, I looked to see if anyone could get these things to work on this switch.
“It seems that right when the phone finished loading the sip.ld application, it would drop the Ethernet link for a second which would disconnect the power long enough to force a reboot. To resolve the issue we configured the ports to keep the power on for the initial 5 minutes of the port going up”
